Dear Reader,
I am a politically interested person. I like the history of South Africa and am impressed how Nelson Mandela and his freedom fighters were able to change their country after such a long time of Apartheid. I'm especially impressed of the fact that Mandela mostly used non-violent actions to achieve his goals. He should be a role model for all the people on earth, showing that you can achieve your goals and change the world without using injustice. Mandela's life story is important for me and I want to inform you about him.
I had some knowledge about Mandela and his life before I started my research. I had watched different movies and documentaries about him and studied his life in class. I knew about his long time in prison, what he did there and how it changed him. I also was pretty good informed about his time as the President of South Africa, but I didn't know much about his ways to achieve the freedom of his country. Since I didn't really know anything about his freedom-fighter actions, I am now pretty good informed about this topic.
My research questions are dealing with Nelson Mandela's journey to freedom. Through my research I knew that Mandela used his speeches, knowledge of history and law, as well as non-violent actions. My first research question is asking how affective his speeches were. The following asks how Mandela's time in prison effected his actions and the last one why Mandela chose not to use violence. I am trying to answer those questions in my following essays and genres.
I mostly used the internet to find my information for my topic. It found the most effective sources there. I kinda got an idea of Mandela and his life through movies and documentaries I watched before even picking my topic. While getting my information online, I tried not to use .com-websites, since the information were more trustful and from a real source. I also used a variety of different sites, so I was able to get a good overview and as many information as possible.
I learned a lot about Nelson Mandela through my research. Even though I already had some general knowledge about Mandela before starting my research, I found out so many interesting facts and information while working on his project. I feel like I now have a pretty good idea about Mandela's life and what kind of a person he was. My respect for him was growing while I was doing my research and I got a better understanding why the South Africans love him so much.
My research mostly deals with Nelson Mandela's journey to the freedom of South Africa and his non-violent actions to achieve his goals. I used some creative ideas to convey my information and also give an insight into Mandela's personal life and personality. My webpage is made to inform you and maybe reveal facts you haven't known about Mandela yet. My research gave me a new view of South Africa's great freedom-fighter and the history of the country. I really hope it will do the same to you.
Sincerely,
Luise Wolfram
