Self- Reflection
I really enjoyed working on this project, even though it was a lot of work. Nelson Mandela is just a great person, as well as a strong activist and the history of South Africa is one of the most impressive. The project opened my eyes for this country and get fact how much people are able to achieve in a fair way.
There were a few parts that were frustrating about the project. Although it was easy to pick your topic and activist, I found it kind of difficult to find ideas for the genres and the thesis. Keeping track of your sources and cite everything you did was the most difficult part for me. Also the first steps on creating the webpage were hard and challenging. I got really confused, since I had never done it before. But after a few tries and practice I got used to it and it turned out pretty good. The whole project was a lot of work and I always felt under a certain pressure.
I tried to use as much class time as possible and I felt I used it effective. I used it to ask questions, do research and to write my essays and genres. Unfortunately I was not able to do all of my project in class, since a lot of time got wasted for asking about details and clarify our tasks.
Therefore I spent a lot of time outside of class working on my project. It took me a long time to figure out my genres. Even though I spent all my class time working on the project, I had to create most of my work during my study hall or at home. It was a really big project and it was extremely easy to get confused with what you are doing and lose track. I would have loved having more time in class to work on the project, but since I liked my topic, it was bearable to work on it in my free time.
I liked my topic from the beginning on and I was really glad that we were able to pick the activist of our choice. Even though I already had known general facts about Nelson Mandela before starting the project, I got so many new information while doing my research. I got a better knowledge about his life and personality, as well as about the history of South Africa. I also found it surprising how many different things I were able to create about this topic, even though it was hard to chose and pick the most interesting and effective one.
I think my final product turned out pretty well. I tried to create my genres around my topic and thesis and I feel it worked pretty well. All in all the project was really informative for me.
